One of the biggest winners to come out of day one of the NFL Free Agent signing period was the Tennessee Titans.
Often times it seems like a team has no real direction or focus when it comes to acquiring free agents. This was not the case yesterday in Nashville. The Titans wasted little time bolstering a weak offensive line by acquiring Andy Levitre, one of the most sought after offensive lineman available.
They then one-upped themselves by signing tight end Delanie Walker (pictured) to replace the recently departed Jared Cook. Walker has to be considered an upgrade at the position, as he is far more versatile than Cook and is one of the best special teams players in the NFL.
It doesn’t look like the Titans are done landing impact players. Sources have told Know It All Football that not only are the Titans interested in acquiring Rams receiver Danny Amendola, but he was actually in Nashville on Tuesday.
This is big news, as it looks as though the Titans will try to deal Nate Washington and replace him with Amendola — yet another upgrade. Amendola would join Kenny Britt and Kendall Wright in what could become one of the most dynamic and lethal trios of wide receivers in the NFL.
If they get Amendola, look for the Titans for focus on the defensive side of the ball throughout the rest of free agency and during the draft, hoping to solidify themselves and the No. 2 team in the AFC South and a serious threat to dethrone the Houston Texans. I’d look for the Titans to take a shot at Detroit defensive end Cliff Avril or possibly further bolster the offensive line with Sebastian Vollmer of the Patriots.
