Lionel Messi has still stalled over contract talks with Barcelona as he ponders over his future.
The Argentine has been in hot form this season, as he is consistently performing well to lead Barcelona to the top of the table. However, he hasn’t yet committed to the future with the club.
The situation seems tricky for Barcelona who already lost their star man Neymar to PSG this summer. The Brazilian left Barcelona for Paris after the French club decided to pay out his contract at the Catalan club.
The departure hasn’t had any serious consequences however, with Barcelona spurring at the top so far. One man who is making it possible is Lionel Messi who has been in sensational touch so far.
Barcelona can’t simply let go the Argentine if they are to continue their success on the pitch. Nevertheless, Spanish football expert Eduardo Inda believes there are serious offers on table for the 5-times Ballon D’or winner.
“A few months ago Messi was a little down and was thinking seriously before the World Cup in Russia to go to China,” Inda said on Spanish TV. “They tell me that he would have received offers of 150 million euros per season [134m].
“Despite this, his intention is to stay. Although he has three offers in case he decides to leave the Barca team. City, Chelsea and Paris Saint-Germain all love him.”
The Argentine has scored 12 goals in 11 games so far in La Liga, while his return of 3 goals in 4 matches in Champions League has helped Barcelona top their group table.
He also replicated his goal-scoring form for his national team, after he scored a crucial hat-trick in the penultimate group game in the qualifiers. The three goals helped his side win an important game against Ecuador to book their place in Russia.
