Bengaluru FC vs Mumbai City FC: Bengaluru take on Mumbai Fc for their debut match in the Indian Super League as the ISL expands to 10 teams.
Bengaluru FC will play for the first time in the Indian Super League (ISL) and they will host a strong Mumbai City FC side on Sunday. The home side arrive in the ISL as an expansion team and will play their home games at Sree Kanteerava Stadium.
Their squad possesses the likes of Spanish players Juanan, Edu Garcia and Toni while their head coach Albert Roca served as an assistant coach for Barcelona in the past.
The Blues, who were 4th in the I-League last term, became the first Indian team to play the final of the AFC Cup after beating Johor Darul Ta’zim FC 3-1 back in October. However, they weren’t able to extend their feat further after losing to Al Quwa in the final by 1-0.
Meanwhile, Mumbai City finished 1st in the regular season last term, but eventually lost on the semi-finals of the Super League.
With the likes of Thiago Santos on loan from Brazilian club Flamengo and Lucian Goian, the Maharastra side have plenty of star power in their roster.
Prediction: Bengaluru FC 1- 2 Mumbai City FC
Mumbai City were one of the strongest sides in the Super League last season, and there is nothing to suggest it wouldn’t be the same this time as well. We predict a narrow 2-1 victory for the away side, however, we might be up for surprises from the newcomers.
The game will be telecasted live on Star Sports 2 and Star Sports 2 HD on 8:00 PM IST (02:30 GMT) in India.
