Several youngsters left the Blues in the summer, but Belgian starlet Charly Musonda has committed to the future with the West London club.
Several reports linked Musonda with other English Premier League clubs including Arsenal, but Blues were adamant his future lies at Stamford Bridge.
Chelsea signed the 21-year-old back in 2012 and the midfielder has since made just 2 league appearances for the senior team. However, the Shed still considers him to be one for the future as he sparkles with his brilliant technical abilities and a no-fear approach towards the game.
Subsequently, Chelsea made early attempts to tie him to a new contract which will keep him at the club until 2022.
“I am very happy and very proud. I came here very young and am very happy to continue my journey here.” Musonda said with Chelsea FC’s official website.
The midfielder was a part of Chelsea’s youth side which won two FA Youth Cup titles in 2013-14, 2014-15 along with UEFA Youth League in 2014-15 season.
“ I love this club so it’s a great moment for me and my family. Now I want to establish myself and progress into the team and stay here permanently.”
Similarly, Roman Abramovich‘s right-hand Marina Granovskaia expressed happiness over the agreement. The club director considers the move as a step towards bright future for the player and the club.
“We are very happy Charly has committed his future to the club,” she said.
“He is an exciting talent who we believe can develop into an important first-team player and we hope he will be a part of Chelsea’s successes for a long time to come.”
