Inter push for contract renewal talks with Mauro Icardi

Inter are looking to renew contract of their ace striker, Mauro Icardi following rumours about possible January move from Real Madrid.

Icardi is playing a crucial role in resurgence of the Italian side this season but they now face a summer battle with Real over their striker. Zinedine Zidane has demanded a new striker in the winter following poor performances so far this season – with the Argentine believed to be one of the primary targets.
Inter boss Luciano Spaletti previously dismissed rumours reiterating his captain’s love for the city and the club. However, reports strongly believe that the forward could push for a move next summer, if not this January.
The 2010 Champions League winners only renewed his contract in October, but his 110 million euro release fee is a fee Real are willing to pay. Consequently, hierarchy at the club now want to increase the fee while also increasing Icardi’s wages in order to make it possible.
Inter currently stand third in the Serie A table, two points below league leaders Napoli as four heavyweights look close to challenge for the title this season. Defending champions Juventus and last season’s runners up, Roma are among the rest two sides battling for the supremacy in Italy.
